What YDS score do I need for the foreign language allowance?
Facts last checked against official sources on October 7, 2026.
Short answer
The public-sector foreign language allowance is paid by YDS (or e-YDS) level and starts at level C (70); the amount depends on whether you are at A, B or C. The score is valid for 5 years. YÖKDİL is not the exam for this allowance.
What to know
- The allowance is based on Decree 375, art. 2.
- Passing does not by itself create a right if you are otherwise not eligible; ask your institution’s personnel office.
- After 5 years the level is treated as one grade lower and payment at level C stops.
