Type 3 ve Mixed Conditionals Konu Anlatımı

Kısaca

Geçmişte olmayan şeylerin sonuçlarını (third conditional) ve geçmiş bir durumun şimdiki etkisini (mixed conditional) doğru kurmayı öğren.

Üçüncü koşul (third conditional)

Geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş bir durumu ve bunun hayali sonucunu anlatır. Türkçedeki -saydı / -seydi yapısına benzer.

  • Ifpast perfect, would / could / mighthavepast participle
  • If I had left earlier, I would have caught the train.Daha erken çıksaydım trene yetişirdim. Ama çıkmadım, yetişemedim.
  • If she had studied more, she might have passed the exam.Daha çok çalışsaydı geçebilirdi.

Burada iki kısım da geçmişe aittir. Hayali bir geçmişten hayali bir geçmiş sonuç çıkar.

Karma koşul (mixed conditional)

İki zaman birbirine karışır. En sık iki türü vardır.

1) Geçmiş neden → şimdiki sonuç: If + past perfect, would + base verb

  • If I had taken that job, I would be living abroad now.O işi kabul etseydim şimdi yurt dışında yaşıyor olurdum.
  • If they hadn't sold the house, they would still have a garden.

2) Şimdiki/kalıcı durum → geçmiş sonuç: If + past simple, would + have + past participle

  • If he were more careful, he wouldn't have broken the screen.Daha dikkatli biri olsaydı ekranı kırmazdı.
  • If I spoke French, I would have understood the guide yesterday.

İpucu: now, today, still gibi sözcükler şimdiki sonucu; yesterday, last year, in 2019 gibi ifadeler geçmiş sonucu işaret eder.

Resmî anlatım: devrik yapı

Yazıda if atılabilir ve had başa alınır:

  • Had I known, I would have called you.
  • Had it not been for your help, we would have failed.

Türklerin sık yaptığı hatalar

  • YanlışIf I would have known, I would have helped.

    DoğruIf I had known, I would have helped.

    If cümlesinde would kullanılmaz. Türkçede iki kısım da geçmiş-varsayım anlamı taşıdığı için (bilseydim … ederdim) öğrenciler would'u iki tarafa da koyma eğilimindedir.

  • YanlışIf I had studied, I would pass last year.

    Doğru...I would have passed last year.

    Geçmiş zaman ifadesi varsa sonuç would have + V3 olmalıdır.

  • YanlışIf I didn't miss the bus, I wouldn't be late yesterday.

    DoğruIf I hadn't missed the bus, I wouldn't have been late yesterday.

  • Sonucun zamanını kontrol etmeden kalıp seçmek. Önce sonucun zamanına karar ver: If I had read the chapter, I would know the answer now. (sonuç şimdi) / If I had read the chapter, I would have known the answer yesterday.sonuç geçmiş
  • would yerine could (yapabilirdim) ve might (belki olabilirdi) da kullanılabilir: If I had had a map, I could have found the place.
